Fernando Alonso was born in Madrid, Spain and received an aeronautical engineering degree there before joining McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach in 1979. He joined Airbus as a performance engineer in 1982 and in 1990 graduated to flight test engineer. In 2002 he was appointed Vice President, Flight Test Division and in September 2007, he was appointed Head of Flight Operations.
He has been a flight test engineer on the maiden flights of the A340-200, the A319, the A318 and the A380.
Fernando will give us a behind-the-scene look at how Airbus brought the A380-the world's newest, largest passenger jet-from the drawing board to the skies.
